Imagine your app have been fully tested on Friday. Imagine you have a very good relationship with your product owner (PO). Imagine the boss of the department has put a lot of pressure over the PO. Imagine the release of the app is overtime. And that your PO ask you to upload the app on Friday (afternoon).

Also imagine you couldn’t even upload your app as a a alpha or beta first because the latest company responsible of the project left the latest update attempt with an error.

Do you think it’s a good idea to upload the app in the last days of the workweek? Obviously, not!

Well, I found myself in these conditions in my latest try to upload an app to the store. Then, if you’re in the same situation as I was, I’d recommend to add to your app as many help networks as you can before upload it definitively (Crashlytics is your friend).

In our case things after the risky publication were more or less fine. We just got two main issues with the app that just was in the market. One of them was an analytics error and the other one was a bug in the app.

Would you imagine that your app has many crashes and you realise in the weekend?

So, as a last part of the article, I’m showing you my thoughts. I’d never upload an app of Friday and much less in the afternoon. I would not even upload it on Thursday afternoon. The reasons are clear. You need to know that after uploading an app your team should be in the office (at least, available) to at least solve the troubles as soon as possible. And if you do that on Thursday of Friday and something happens it’s probably that the development team will be in their deserved weekend rest.

Then, uploading to the stores on Monday or Tuesday is the best choice.

If something happens, the team will be watching out and all the team should be focus on the vitals of the app. And if everything goes well, the team could keep working in other features (or even having a less stressful times than before). In my opinion, a company does not have any benefit if they upload a version on Friday instead of they do it on Monday; it’s just two days of difference. Unless you should upload the app in the previous week for any reason: because it’s going to be showed in an event, an ad will be published or any other.

Anyway, things could be like this! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Let’s work so it will not happen again!!!

p.s.: when I’m talking about upload an app is either upload the first time or update it.

Thank you for your time reading this article. If you found it helpful, do not hesitase to click the 👏 and share it.
